Kenavon Drive – Bellway Homes

Client: Bellway Homes

Project: Kings Mead, Kenavon Drive, Reading.

Date: June 2015

Contract: Bellway Homes, the UK’s fourth largest housebuilder, expanded their operation into the Thames Valley in 2015, since then ASW Scaffolding Ltd have worked alongside them on a number of key projects including King’s Mead.  The development at Kenavon Drive had been in planning for some time and ASW Ltd secured the contract for access and scaffolding requirements following a very competitive tendering process.

The Challenge: Kings Mead, in Reading, Berkshire, is a development of over 190 units comprising 2,3 and 4 bedroom houses and 1,2 and 3 bedroom apartments.   The 6.1 acre, former gas works brownfield site, situated alongside the Kennet & Avon canal is part of an on-going regeneration project for the area.  The layout of the site presented some areas of difficulty with regards to planning and space shortage.  However, ASW Ltd and the Production team managed to work through a successful program in order to complete the project on time.

The Result: Such was the demand for housing at Kings Mead that many of the apartments were sold off plan. Indeed, the development didn’t take long to completely sell out.  The Production team at Bellway were very complimentary of ASW Ltd’s efforts at Kenavon Drive, a very tight program coupled with the site logistics presented considerable potential for problems.  However, the development went very well, our team of labour and supervisors managed to schedule the access requirements perfectly.
